The Greatest Supergoup ever
Today we are gathered to pay homage to the Traveling Wilbury's... rock and roll's greatest supergroup. Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, and Jeff Lynne. Know what that is? The greatest rhythm section in the history of rock! Holy shit, how did that happen? It's a pretty cool story, as it came together organically (meaning, record company suits were not involved). George Harrison was recording a b side and needed a single. He invited Roy Orbison and Tom Petty to help. The cranked out 'Handle me with Care'. It was quickly realized this was too much talent to waste on a b side.
They were holed up in Dylan's studio, did I mention that? That is where he comes in. So these guys created one of the best enduring records of all time. When I say record, I mean it... it never got pressed to CD for some reason. Fortunately, and finally, the Harrison family has remastered and is re-releasing the whole Wilbury collection on CD and DVD. It was supposed to come out yesterday, but that was clearly lies generated by the Bush administration. Turns out it won't be out until next Tuesday, June 11th. I'll be there, will you?
